The next item on the agenda is the debate on the Commission statement on "Following the tragic Florence incident: Prevent fatal accidents at work’ (2024/2601(RSP)).

Colleagues! We still have 40 speakers, with one exception, all of them have one minute. We've been around twice now. If everyone goes over his or her speech, then I will have to recommend to the next Vice-President to shorten the blue card procedure, or we will get totally out of control. Some of the leaders who have spoken are still there. We have to change things with speaking time, but I can't help but really pay attention to the strict observance of speaking time, and I also ask all my colleagues for appropriate discipline.

I took notice that Mr Danjean will today have his last speech in the House, and I want to take the opportunity to thank you for your contributions and for your service. Mr Verhofstadt, I understand that you are sometimes annoyed, but I see that speaking time is respected, that we are not too late. And I would also like to say explicitly that I appreciate colleagues like you who do not appear here with any manuscript and speak freely, and who read other speeches literally and even do not stick to the one minute when preparing such speeches. That annoys me colossally!
