European solutions to the rise of energy prices for businesses and consumers: the role of energy efficiency and renewable energy and the need to tackle energy poverty (debate)

Madam President, I'm sorry. Commissioner, I'm sorry. Some time ago, I published an article entitled ‘Current becomes a luxury commodity in Europe’. The title was supposed to be provocative, but it turned out to be prophetic. In Spain and Portugal, the megawatt hour reached 190 euros. On a similar scale, electricity is also more expensive in Italy, and in general throughout the European Union. There is no end to this panic. Countries at the forefront of environmental propaganda, such as the Netherlands, are returning to coal technologies to stabilise prices and ensure the continuity of energy supplies. For the first time in decades, wealthy Western European societies began to fear poverty and frost. This is the price of the Green Deal. It is not a crisis, it is a result, as the Polish writer Stefan Kisielewski would say. Such are the costs of too hasty decarbonisation and faith in renewable energy, which turns out to be simply unreliable. Of course, Brussels can control this chaos. All that is needed is to rationalise and adapt climate policy to social expectations and economic opportunities. Let's do this while there's still time, until it's too late, until people are on the street. Otherwise, European energy will forever become dependent on the whims of weather and Russian roulette. The proposal is one: The West, freed from the trap of Arab oil, fell into the trap of the Russian dictatorship. What a shame!
Presentation of the Fit for 55 package after the publication of the IPCC report (debate)

Mr President, thank you very much. Political, economic and technological mobilisation to achieve climate goals is unprecedented in our history. With the Fit for 55 package, the European Commission has set out how the European Union should achieve climate neutrality. However, I must express loudly the fears that still accompanies the green revolution, which are divided by many. Scientists suggest that even with efforts such as those currently being undertaken in Europe, humanity simply cannot slow down climate change. I do not deny that these changes exist, but I have serious doubts that the billions of euros we have borrowed from future generations will actually make the world a better place. Secondly, Mr President, I ask you to pay attention to what climate policy is already doing to the economy. Record carbon prices leading to higher energy market prices, electricity shortages and power outages. And this is just the beginning. Is that your goal? Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of small businesses, please on behalf of middle-income families, please on behalf of indebted households who cannot afford the next wave ... (The speaker took the floor.)
A new ERA for Research and Innovation (continuation of debate)

Mr President, thank you very much. Mr. Komiarz, I'm sorry. Thank you very much to Mr Buşoi for monitoring the topic of the European Research Area. Radicalisation of EU climate policy makes us increasingly dependent on new and future technologies. This is why we should put even more emphasis on research and innovation in the European Union. It's not easy. Firstly, we must meet the requirements of often too radical and strict ecological standards, which are also beginning to threaten our energy security. We had power cuts in Europe. Secondly, we cannot voluntarily give up the field in global economic competition. Unfortunately, we often act against the logical order, i.e. we first set unrealistic goals, and then we frantically look for technologies that will meet them. It must be made clear: So far, technology has not kept up with green ambitions. The third, most important thing is to ensure the security of energy supply. Although my opinion on this subject is not very popular in this House, I would like to suggest once again that, with regard to research and innovation programmes, we must support zero-emission technologies and carbon capture and storage.
Connecting Europe Facility - Streamlining measures for the realisation of the TEN-T - Railway safety and signalling: Assessing the state of play of the ERTMS deployment (debate)

Mr President, thank you very much. Commissioner, I'm sorry. The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is an excellent example of proper and desirable European cooperation, addresses real problems, not ideological ones, and offers very concrete solutions for economic, social and territorial cohesion. This is the European Union that we should strive for. These are political goals that are worth pursuing and pursuing. I am pleased that, despite the pressure from the Greens, we have managed to maintain funding for gas infrastructure under the Connecting Europe Facility. These were difficult and sometimes emotional conversations. In the debate on this subject, we have heard a lot of criticism, resentment and even hatred towards gas. However, our adversaries should remember that without gas as a transitional fuel, we will never achieve climate neutrality. Without gas, there will be no Green Deal, but even black despair when energy supplies start to break, electricity bills soar and paralyzed EU industry ends up on the margins of the global economy. This must not be allowed by responsible European politicians. Thank you very much for your commitment and that of the Commissioner of the European Commission.
